Press releases should be no more than 450 words. Press releases received by Thursday will be given consideration for the following Thursday’s edition or an upcoming scheduled edition as space allows. All submissions are subject to editing. Photos should be in a .tif or .jpg format, 300 dpi resolution or higher, and at least 1 MB in size. A photo caption suggestion is always appreciated. Share your good news with your neighbors in South Burlington. We welcome announcements accompanied by photos in celebration of Engagements, Weddings, Civil Unions, Births and Adoptions, Milestone Birthdays and Anniversaries of South Burlington residents. Please send your announcement(s) by Thursday at 5 p.m. for the following week's paper.
The Other Paper regularly accepts press releases about South Burlington businesses, associations, organizations or residents. The release must not be advertorial in nature. The South Burlington connection should be specifically mentioned and significant to the press release.
We welcome your input, and encourage reader participation in an effort to stimulate reflection and discussion about all things South Burlington. Diverse and varied opinions are welcomed in response to public policy, community issues and concerns, and relevant topics of interest. In the interest of healthy civil discourse, stay on topic, keep it simple, and focus on your point respectfully. To encourage an open exchange of ideas, it is our intent to publish all letters, although that is not always possible. We reserve the right to reject letters or edit for clarity, brevity, good taste and accuracy, and to prevent libel.
Deadline is Friday at 5 p.m. for the next week’s issue. South Burlington residents, business owners, and organizations may submit for consideration, only one letter each 30 days. Letters must be less than 350 words. All submissions must be signed and include the writer’s street address and telephone number for verification purposes (addresses and phone numbers will not be published). Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. We also accept obituaries from family members. There is no charge for obituaries. Please submit your obituary by Thursday at 5 p.m. for the following week's paper; the newspaper will try to accommodate late notices, if possible.
FREE ADS are offered as a service to our neighbors living in South Burlington! We accept classified ads from South Burlington residents for General Household Items, Free Items, Garage Sales, Lost and Found Items, and Vehicles for Sale. Ads will run for 2 weeks, free of charge, on a space available basis. PAID ADS for Business, Service, Real Estate for Sale, or Rental Advertising cost $20 per week. Paid ads will not run until payment is received. Call us at 802-864-6670 to arrange payment. Deadline for publication is Thursday for the following week.
If you have an event you'd like to list on the site, submit it now! Events taking place in South Burlington, and events sponsored by South Burlington organizations/associations will be given first consideration for publication in the print edition of The Other Paper, and must be submitted by Thursday, one week prior to publication. Additional listings will be considered on a space available basis, and may be included in the web calendar. Please feel free to email a separate press release to firstname.lastname@example.org, in addition to your calendar submission.
We do not publish promotional events for businesses, seminars, open houses for schools, classes that require payment, regularly scheduled religious services, or events at theater venues, restaurants or bars in the calendar section. Please click on our advertising links to find out how to promote these events. We may need to edit for space or clarity. We will do our best to include your listing, but unfortunately, we can’t include every event.
