McDowell Drafted by MLB

Theo McDowell

Former South Burlington High School student Theo McDowell, shown above during his first season of Arizona Rookie ball, was selected in the 14th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Texas Rangers. McDowell was invited to the Arizona Fall Instructional League, which ended mid-October, to work on his pitching craft. After a brief rest, McDowell is set for more workouts in Arizona to further prepare for spring training 2019, continuing a program of weight training and conditioning for the off-season.

McDowell was a member of the 2015 South Burlington Sr. Babe Ruth Championship team. He attended West Virginia University, where baseball coach Randy Mazey described him as “a 6-5 righty, with an incredibly high ceiling.”
