A three-game win streak to end the regular season has the South Burlington boys basketball team right where they want to be headed into the playoffs: on a roll.
The Wolves finished the regular season with a 10-10 record and jumped up to earn the No. 11 seed in the Division I playoffs.
South Burlington took its winning streak into their playdown game against No. 6 Champlain Valley on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Results were not available at press time.
While the Wolves are red hot, so are their opponents. The Redhawks have won five games in a row and finished with a 13-7 regular season record.
In two matchups this season, CVU has gotten the upper hand, winning the first 70-47 and the second 45-43.
If the Wolves can pull off the upset on Tuesday, they would still face a tough battle. The team will likely face No. 3 Rutland in the quarterfinals and then will likely see No. 2 Mount Mansfield in the semifinals. Always lurking as a final game opponent is No. 1 Rice.
Despite the road, Division I is wide open with competitive games nightly. Upsets will happen and, with their hot record, No. 11 South Burlington will be aiming to pull off a few of them.
