Nine-year-old Nica Thomas claimed the title of Northeast Regional Yoga Youth Champion for the second year in a row. The Northeast Regional Yoga Asana Championship was held earlier this month at the Star Theater in Kittery, Maine. Thomas, who practices yoga at Queen City Yoga on San Remo Drive, was one of six competitors representing Vermont, ranging in age from nine to 69. Queen City Yoga, owned by Marla Thomas, came home with three medals from the competition. “I really love watching people compete and seeing how amazing and creative they are,” Nica Thomas said. Last year the fourth grader claimed the national title in her division. This year’s U.S. National Championship is Aug. 2 in Lynchburg, Va. Thomas looks forward to the competition and adds, “It’s fun to travel with my mom and meet everyone. I was really nervous and just do my best to focus.”
