Outlook: A small group of South Burlington Nordic skiers will look to build off a fifth place finish for the boys team at last year’s Division I state meet. A new coaching team – led by first-year coach Nicole Ritchie – is looking to continue to build-up the small program, with an energetic energy on the varsity squad. “We are committed to fielding a full and competitive varsity team, skill building for new skiers and enjoying the process,” Ritchie said. The new coaching squad – assistants Matt Gordon, Maddie Russo and Silas Talbot – bring a wealth of knowledge that they hope will help the Wolves take a step forward.

Up next: Friday, Jan. 18, at Jericho

Kew newcomers: Connor Murphy, sophomore; Eli Vincent, sophomore; Peter Edwards, junior.

Outlook: The South Burlington snowboarding squad is embracing the “small but mighty” mantra as they ride into the new year. The Wolves return some veteran snowboarders who will look to lead what is overall young squad, coach Kevin Downey said. The team has been able to practice on snow for over a month, focusing on freestyle and slopestyle events, for an upcoming competition in January. “Our overall goal is to build skills and confidence for our new teammates and for some of our veterans to qualify for states,” Downey said.
